Newborn | Pediatric Care

Babies and kiddos deserve to feel good in their little bodies!

Dr. Dani has taken hundreds of hours of continuing education in pediatrics to ensure she is offering the HIGHEST quality care. Her longer appointments and whole body approach will ensure your child is able to feed, sleep, poop, move and grow optimally. Whether through gentle bodywork, craniosacral fascial technique, or at-home exercise prescription, we’ll make sure your baby is feeling their best, hitting those milestones, and THRIVING!

“Trusting somebody with the care of a child is not something to take lightly, and I both trust and greatly appreciate Dr. Dani … she explained what she was doing as she went and any findings she observed which was helpful for us. She also proactively and effectively communicated with our lactation consultant which made for a great team effort to support our child. I wholeheartedly recommend her to others who may be looking for a pediatric chiropractor.”

Why would you bring your child to a chiropractor? Great question!

There are SO many benefits to seeing a qualified pediatric chiropractor, but when you combine chiro care with an additional understanding of how difficulty with breast/bottle feeding, tongue ties, plagiocephaly (flat head), torticollis, reflux, milestone development, and body tension impact the body (and each other) as a whole… THAT’S where the magic happens.
So, to answer the question, chiropractic is a gentle, safe, and effective way to address the root cause of concerns and/or promoting overall wellness.

Tongue Tie

Tongue ties can contribute to difficulty feeding, body tension, reflux, gassiness, overall discomfort, and more. Dr. Dani works alongside IBCLCs, Pediatric Dentists, OTs, and SLPs to provide the most comprehensive care possible. Pediatric chiropractic works by reducing discomfort from tension brought on by the tie itself and related compensation patterns, ensuring your baby is ready for a release (if needed), and improving release outcomes & feeding success.

I’m here to support and guide you through your feeding and/or tongue tie release journey. When done well, tongue tie releases are a process, not just a procedure.

Torticollis | Preferences | Flat Spots

Left untreated, torticollis and head turn preferences can lead to flat spots and contribute to delays in milestone development. Dr. Dani takes a whole body approach to reducing body tension (NOT just neck tension) and working with parents proactively with purposeful play ideas. When necessary, Dr. Dani also works alongside Pediatric Physical Therapists by focusing on encouraging proper movement patterns while they promote proper motor skills. If you are concerned your infant has a flat spot, please reach out!

The earlier this is treated, the better the outcomes!

Milestone Development

Dr. Dani incorporates purposeful play and at-home exercises in her care plans to encourage awareness and excitement of baby’s “mini” milestones for parents. Along with bodywork to promote necessary symmetry and mobility, Dr. Dani provides basic, age-appropriate activities and exercises to encourage optimal milestone development. When necessary, Dr. Dani works alongside Pediatric Physical Therapists to ensure care is well-rounded and meeting ALL the needs of a developing tiny tot!

Reflux

Did you know that reflux is commonly associated with other concerns such as body tension, torticollis, constipation, etc.? It can even impact milestone development which is why Dr. Dani LOVES to work with these kiddos to potentially help identify any underlying causes, help them feel more comfortable in their little bodies, and to also encourage proper development & limit long-term impact.

Reflux may be messy, but treatment doesn’t have to be!

Craniosacral Fascial Technique (CFT)

Craniosacral Fascial Therapy is a form of bodywork. CFT provides a gentle approach to decreasing tension contributing to discomfort or dysfunction such as with suboptimal feeding or milestones development.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Pediatric chiropractic can help decrease body tension contributing to discomfort or dysfunction in feeding, pooping, moving, etc. Tension can limit a baby’s ability to comfortably explore their environment which can lead to milestone development concerns as well. Chiro care / gentle bodywork conservatively improves the overall function and well being of newborns and promotes healthy development through both a preventative/proactive and therapeutic approach.

  • Chiropractic is beneficial for the 1+ age group as well. By conservatively addressing tension patterns and/or asymmetries early, we can decrease long-term compensations and dysfunction. Wellness care from an early age also helps to instill that our bodies are worth taking care of and dedicating time and attention to.

  • Pediatric Chiropractic is as gentle as it gets. Dr. Dani uses pressures equivalent to what you would use to test an avocado or tomato to see if it’s ripe. That’s right! No pops, no clicks… NO noises. Joints/ bones aren’t mature as a newborn (or even as a toddler) so there is absolutely no need for manual adjusting. We use gentle pressure and their body weight to reduce areas of tension and restore symmetry. Dr. Dani also has additional training in Craniosacral Fascial Technique (CFT) and incorporates myofascial work into every appointment. Parents are also sent home with exercises, resources and information on how THEY can help their baby feel better at home as well.

  • After an adjustment, most parents say they notice that their baby or child is more relaxed. Since we are working with the nervous system, getting into “rest & digest” = good naps and poops! Expect to receive homework because there’s so much benefit to daily at-home care!

  • If you’re working with a Pediatric Chiropractor, YES! Chiropractic care is incredibly safe for newborns/ infants, and kids alike. Finding a Chiropractor that specializes in pediatrics is INCREDIBLY important because they have additional training and knowledge that they seek out separately. Dr. Dani has numerous certifications and trainings from both from the chiropractic side and rehabilitative/exercise prescription side of care.

  • If there’s a kiddo with a ramped-up nervous system (typically because they don’t feel super comfortable in their bodies), they will likely continue that pattern through the first few sessions, but most littles relax and even nap through the visits. As we get older, we make games out of treatment or we can even work on them while they play!

“Dr. Dani is a magician! She has been working on me and my two children for years and it’s been amazing to see all of us physically thriving because of her expert attention, adjustments, and dry needling. Highly recommend.”
